Honeymoon Romance

Hot on the heels of a blissful wedding, your honeymoon is a chance to relax and spend quality time together. Put in a little legwork and you’ll enjoy a romantic honeymoon that fits your budget…

Choose Wisely

While it’s not necessarily about where you go, but rather the memories you create, it is a good idea to think carefully about the right honeymoon destination for you as a couple. Consider what you love to do together and when you feel most relaxed or connected. Is it exploring a city? Experiencing new adventures? Lying on the beach? Or living it up in the lap of luxury? Choose a destination that will allow you to make the most of this. For a little extra guidance, work with a travel agent who’ll have inside info on the hottest destinations and special deals. Looking to keep costs down? Take advantage of the low season and off-peak travel times, go where your dollar is strong, book early and use your airpoints dollars if possible!

Research Rooms

Whether you are going for budget accommodation or treating yourself to five-star, there are a couple of key features that can make any room more romantic. Look for amenities such as a spa bath to relax in together, a fireplace, comfy robes to lounge around in, and a peaceful and private setting. These special touches will add to the amorous atmosphere. If you’re on a tight budget, book a room that doesn’t have the best view, and one that has cooking facilities so you can whip up your own meals occasionally. You could splurge on a luxurious place just for a night or two.

Share The News

From your airline and hotel’s front desk, to waiters, tour guides and taxi drivers, tell everybody that you are on your honeymoon! You may get complimentary upgrades, special treats such as Champagne or chocolates, a late checkout or access to romantic spots that only the locals know about.

Pack Smart

A simple way to add romance to your holiday is to bring some comforts from home. Pack aromatherapy massage oil, beautiful lingerie, fragrant candles (check with the hotel first), mini portable speakers and your iPod loaded with your favourite songs. It’s also a nice idea to add special touches to your room such as fresh flowers or your favourite treats.

Quality Time

While allowing plenty of time to just relax and enjoy each other’s company, don’t forget to plan a few romantic activities. Try rising early one morning to watch the sun rise together. Or how about packing a picnic to enjoy at a secluded spot or a candlelit meal on the beach, hiring a tandem bike and taking in the sights, having a couples massage, or just spending the day in bed – order room service, watch a movie and unwind.
