Australia’s First Syrah arrives in New Zealand

Australian red lovers, meet your new favourite pour. Taylors Wines has just launched Taylors Estate Syrah 2024 in New Zealand — the first Australian Syrah available in the local market, and a fresh new take on what an Australian red can be.

While Syrah and Shiraz are made from the same grape, this new release is all about a lighter, more elegant style. Grown in the cool-climate Adelaide Hills, Taylors Estate Syrah 2024 offers vibrant raspberry and strawberry flavours layered with subtle spice, hints of cinnamon and clove, and a touch of creamy oak. The finish is smooth, refined and beautifully long.

Unlike the richer, bolder style of Taylors’ much-loved Estate Shiraz — with its dark plum and blackcurrant notes — the new Syrah feels lighter, fresher and more modern. It is made for long lunches, relaxed dinner parties and grazing platters shared with friends, but also pairs beautifully with lamb, slow-cooked meats and creamy dishes.
