Laura & Paul

On the morning of the wedding, Paul was surprised with a gift I had left with his suit – a new watch with a special engraving for him to wear for the big day. He looked handsome in a navy suit and bow tie with tan shoes and belt.

I arrived, driven by my brother-in-law in his vintage Impala. As family is so important to us both, we had our four adorable nephews escort the bridesmaids down the aisle and our two gorgeous nieces in feathered dresses as flowersgirls. My dad walked me down the aisle in my custom-made lace gown. Emotions ran high as Paul and I each wrote our own wedding vows, which we heard for the first time under our amazing floral wedding arch that Paul built out of railway sleepers. During the ceremony, our niece Ruby read a poem about love, which she wrote herself.

After the ceremony, guests mingled over cocktails and canapés on the lawn. There was so much love and laughter during our wedding day and a very relaxed atmosphere. There were many giggles when our three-year-old nephew took off his pants during one of the group photos!

The reception took place in a marquee beautifully decorated with the help of family and friends. The tables had a mixture of unique vintage bread-and-butter plates lovingly collected by my mum from op shops. In jars on top of tree trunk rounds sat beautiful country-garden flowers that looked like they had been plucked straight from the garden.

After a wonderful sit-down meal and speeches, we had a delicious three-tier cake. We shared our first dance and then danced the night away with family and friends to a great band. I don’t think the dance floor was empty the whole night!

It meant so much for us to share our beautiful day with family and friends. Our wedding was magical and we can’t imagine a better way to start our lives together.
