Melanie and Samuel planned a romantic wedding day with a Tuscan feel, incorporating a neutral palette with plenty of green foliage and gold highlights. Melanie tells us more…

Kumeu Valley Estate immediately won us over, with its well-kept gardens, blossoming trees and a tastefully renovated barn featuring large timber beams. It was the perfect canvas to bring our dreams to reality.

While planning and organising our wedding, we were overwhelmed by the way our friends and family came together to contribute their time and energy. They assisted us with a number of DIY projects, from chain-sawing trees into slices for our centrepieces, to arranging the flowers, making our seating chart and welcome signs, and sourcing and hand-painting the candelabras.

After threatening bad weather, our big day dawned clear and fine. The girls enjoyed a relaxed and fun morning getting our hair and makeup done, while the guys’ morning involved breakfast and watching the Rugby World Cup semifinal!

Our ceremony setting was simple yet so stunning with an arch decorated with ivy, olive leaves and dozens of white roses. Walking down the aisle on my dad’s arm, I felt so amazing in my beautiful gown. Seeing all our loved ones, then focusing on Sam’s face was definitely the most special part of the day and something I will never forget.

At the reception tables, towering gold candelabra entwined with vine sat on log pieces wrapped in rosemary – it gave off the most inviting aroma. As a favour, each guest received a home-grown succulent in a gold jar to take home and keep the memory of the occasion alive. The bridal table was decorated with candles and a cascading flower garland table runner. Behind it, fairy lights hung from ceiling to floor, a ladder was interwoven with ivy and roses, and marquee letter lights shone bright. Everything was such a dream.

Our wedding day was so filled with the love and support from our family and friends, who made our wedding much more than we could have ever imagined. The day was warm, intimate and sparkled with love!
