Ruth & Thomas
After a four-month engagement, Ruth and Thomas exchanged vows at a gorgeous wedding with a rustic autumn feel. Ruth explains…
I came to New Zealand from Ireland for a one-year adventure, but two and a half years later I was still here and getting married to the first Kiwi man I met! I wouldn’t recommend getting married after such a short engagement, but despite feeling stressed, everything turned out perfectly in the end. Our ceremony was held in a tiny church packed to capacity. It was incredible to say and hear the personal vows we had written, to listen to friends play the guitar and to have our parents pray for us. Thomas loves vintage cars, so after our ceremony we travelled in two classic Chevys to a nearby beach and vineyard for photos with our wedding party. It was so much fun and we felt the most loved-up ever! At our reception I changed into a party dress and Thomas into a kilt and we performed a traditional Celtic dance – all of our guests were dancing and having a great time! The whole day was perfect.
