Rachael & William

Rachael and William wanted their wedding to celebrate their love for each other and their family. They exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony, and followed with a lively party for their guests. Rachael tells us more…

We organised our wedding with the help of family and friends, some of whom were setting up at the venue until midnight the day before the wedding! We incorporated a lot of DIY – I learned to bake and made our cake; I collected glass jars and bottles for the centrepieces; Will’s mum made the sparkly table cloths; and my bridesmaids made the tissue paper tassels and blew up more than 1000 balloons for our helium-balloon wall.

Will and I are both lucky to have our grandparents play a huge role in our lives, so they were an important part of our day. My 90-year-old grandad walked me down half the aisle, and all of my getting-ready photos were taken with my late grandmother’s furniture.
We visited my other gran in a rest home on the way to our ceremony.

After the formalities of the ceremony were over, the wedding party rode on a double-decker bus to the reception venue. As we danced into the night, a beautiful sunset presented a fabulous photo opportunity, so all of our guests went outside with balloons and we got some fantastic photos.

Our wedding was a whirlwind of happiness and love shared with our family and friends.
