Michelle & Ben

BG73 Readers Weddings6

Despite the venue burning down six weeks before their wedding date, Michelle and Ben Gibson celebrated their special day with music, love and unique touches. Michelle shares their story…

Ben comes from a musically talented family, and along with his brothers, wrote a beautiful song that they performed during our ceremony. Mum and I sewed metres of bunting, which was hung outside the church and in the trees in the garden, before quickly moving to decorate the reception venue. We’d spent hours rummaging through op shops looking for jars and vases, which we filled with wild flowers on the tables. I love the Dutch part of my culture, and decided to honour that part of my heritage with our wedding favours. We filled paper bags with tulip bulbs and labelled with care instructions. During the months that followed we were sent many photos of people’s garden and pots bursting with beautiful tulips – a lovely reminder of our wedding day.
