Melissa & Brad

Taking a hands-on approach to their summer wedding, Melissa and Brad planned a beautiful outdoor celebration in their hometown of Taupo. Melissa tells us more about their day…

We had six months to plan our wedding, held at a friend’s beautiful lakeside property, and decided on a vintage theme. There was a gorgeous weeping elm tree on the property and we got married under its branches, with pale apricot ribbons hanging from the tree.
Brad designed and made a large apricot heart that formed a backdrop for our bridal table. We held our reception outside, beside the lake and sitting beneath the trees and fairylights. The guests’ tables were decorated with old books, candles in vintage cups and recycled jars with wildflowers. Brad’s mother made apricot serviettes, which were accompanied by white plates, doilies, brown paper bags with apricot bows and heart-shaped sweets for the guests. We were so thrilled with the whole day – it was all we hoped for, filled with amazing memories.
