Marie & Willane
After a spectacular proposal at the foot of a lighthouse, laid-back couple Marie and Willame based their wedding around a theme of light. Marie shares their story…
In keeping with our theme, a lighthouse motif adorned our stationery, and lanterns decorated everything from our aisle to the tables and trees. Everything glowed, from the twinkling fairy lights to our pride, which shone brightly on the day.
We exchanged vows under a boat shed, and to bring our love of the ocean to life we held a sand ceremony combining the sands of my hometown with the sand from the beach where we first met.
We created many of our wedding props and scoured antique stores for unique trinkets to suit our theme. Our décor had a boho chic look – the tables were decorated with lanterns, flowers, Turkish vases, Moroccan tea glasses, gold plates and flower seeds for favours. Festoon lighting hung inside and out. We had plenty of interactive games and activities to keep our guests entertained, such as croquet, pétanque and an I Spy scavenger hunt.
Working as a team and being creative together helped us create a wedding full of love – it felt like the perfect expression of our relationship.
