Libby & Bjorn

BG73 Readers Weddings9

After just two months of planning, Libby and Bjorn Brickell enjoyed a fun and relaxed celebration with the people they love. Libby shares the details of their gorgeous wedding…

Inspired by the 1930s, I made hairpieces from vintage jewellery, feathers and beads. Along with my dressmaker, I designed a wedding dress using delicate and vintage European lace. My bridesmaids wore different styles of nude-coloured dresses, and the guys looked fantastic in their simple but smart suits. We rode to the church in restored Model A cars, and I walked down the aisle with both my mother and father. Bjorn’s friend and pastor married us – it was wonderful to be amongst such close friends. Following the service, our guests enjoyed cupcakes and punch, while the bridal party escaped to a beautiful lakeside location for photos and a picnic. At the reception, the centre of the tables had jars filled with lollies because we are both suckers for sweets. On each guest’s plate there was a paper bag stamped with their name and a caricature of Bjorn and I – they were able to fill their bags with lollies to take home. After the speeches we danced the night away, with Bjorn and his band providing the music. We were the last to leave!
