Jess & Josh

With a relaxed and rustic wedding theme in mind, Jess and Josh celebrated with friends and family who travelled from all over the world. Jess fills us in on their wedding story…

Our venue had the perfect mix of whimsical, rustic style, with exposed wood, glittering fairy lights and a real barn-like feel. We chose a colour scheme of peach, grey and white with hints of green coming through the flowers. I am in love with the cloud like floatiness of gypsophila, so this was used in my bouquet and hair accessory, my bridesmaids’ flowers, and on the reception tables. Twine, mismatched jars and plenty of tealights helped to create the magical atmosphere. We recycled an old rimu mirror to write our seating plan and now use it to display photos from our wedding day.

Our guests were entertained with comical props for the do-it-yourself photo booth, as well as sparklers and chalkboard table names that were inspired by our favourite songs. The chalkboards doubled as our guest book, with guests writing and drawing their well wishes for us. Our cake reflected my gown, with side-draped flowers in an ombre peach colouring. My shoes showed my wild side – leopard-print wedges!

The day was relaxed, stress-free and filled with laughter – it couldn’t have been more perfect.
