Delwyn & Adam
With their wedding date the week before Christmas, Delwyn and Adam planned a beautiful and relaxed weekend-long celebration that felt like a true Kiwi summer at the beach. Delwyn shares their wedding story…
Our big day dawned with sunny skies and, while the girls relaxed, the boys anxiously waited for the tide to be low enough so they could set up our ceremony site. We exchanged vows at Okiore Point in Northland, right opposite where Adam proposed with a Burger Ring!
Afterwards, guests enjoyed bubbles and canapés before heading to the reception site at a nearby campground. A beautiful Moroccan-style tent was set up with welcoming lounge furniture and crisp white table settings. The food we served was fresh and tasty – crayfish, paua, snapper, beef, ham and delicious salads. The seafood was hunted and gathered by our good friends in the Chatham Islands, who sent it to us for our special day. Dessert consisted of a white chocolate fountain, fresh summer fruits, and a four-tier chocolate mud cake. Our fun cake topper featured a half groom/half rugby player being tackled by his bride! Our wedding favours were noodle boxes filled with delicious fortune cookies in green and red, each one containing a selection of Adam’s favourite jokes. When the sun went down, lanterns were released in memory of both sets of grandparents. It felt like they were watching over us all day. Then an amazing fireworks display dazzled our guests, before we all hit the dance floor and the band played until 3am! We had an unforgettable day – relaxed, beautiful, and shared with amazing friends and family.
