Annelise & Ryan
With a fairytale garden theme in mind, Annelise and Ryan planned an intimate and personal wedding. Annelise shares their story…
We wanted to celebrate our love by surrounding ourselves with all of our favourite people – those who have been there for us over the years, celebrating our successes and supporting us and our relationship through challenging times. This made our wedding a very personal event as everyone close to us had a part to play.
My father hosted the event at his homestead, working for more than a year to make everything look stunning for the big day. Ryan’s dad drove the wedding car, and his sister made the cake. A close friend was the photographer and designed our stationery, a family friend was our celebrant, my maid of honour did our makeup, a friend played guitar and sung while I walked down the aisle, and my stepmum did a lot of work theming and decorating the venue. We are lucky to have an incredible bunch of creative and talented friends and family; they were all so generous with their time and contribution to the day. It made us feel strong and supported moving forward into married life together, and also made the day a whole lot of fun!
Our 80 guests were the perfect number to fill the tunnel house that Dad uses for growing plants. We set long tables and covered them in wildflowers, candles and fairy lights to give the space a magical feeling. It was so special sitting next to my husband in this garden paradise, next to all our loved ones while the rain beat down outside.
