Alice & Darryl
Alice and Daryl wanted a relaxed wedding in a garden setting with pretty pinks, white and a touch of latte. Alice tells us how the couple achieved their perfect day…
We decided to have our photos before the ceremony so we could spend more time with our guests. Daryl stood with his back to me so there was still an element of anticipation before he saw me for the first time. It didn’t take away from the way I felt walking down the aisle towards my husband-to-be, not to mention, settled some of the nerves! The rain and mist at Bethells Beach made for some truly creative pictures. Many of our photos were at the beach coffee stand complete with milkshakes, mixed lollies and the local dogs – fun, retro and kiwiana, which we just love! At Cassels, I walked down the aisle with my proud father to Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which was one of my late grandmother’s favourite songs. The misty warm rain continued to fall, but we found this comforting and were positive that they were happy tears from heaven. After the ceremony the sun appeared and the tui started to sing – it was perfect. Inside, the tables looked beautiful and fresh, with white peonies and our chocolate-dipped shortbread favours made by Daryl’s aunt. We enjoyed beautiful food cooked in the wood fire oven, great speeches and a lot of dancing. Heels were off, ties were loosened and we had an absolute ball.
