Matariki Magic

Inspired by the stars of Matariki, the unity of a couple, and the people of Aotearoa, this stunning wedding style captures the romance and magic of the season.

The culturally-diverse group of talented vendors who created this shoot say:

“The first rise of Matariki, also known as the Pleiades star cluster, marks the beginning of the Māori lunar calendar, around late June or early July. For the first time in 2022, as we eagerly anticipated joining together as a nation to celebrate Matariki with a brand new public holiday, a creative idea was sparked, which we thoroughly enjoyed bringing to life.

Our aim was to capture those sacred moments that are part of a marriage celebration, while also creating a fusion of Māori cultural traditions and art forms with contemporary wedding trends. We executed this celebration in a micro-wedding style with a warm and deep-hued colour palette.

The overarching message, from our vendor collaborations right through to expressions of creativity, was: “Together we are Stronger”.’
