Tangi & Emma
Emma and Tangi wanted their wedding to highlight an interest they both shared. They decided on a travel theme, with beautiful vintage elements. Emma shares their story…
We spent the year leading up to our wedding rummaging around charity shops for DIY projects. With help from Tangi, I made our wedding stationery, chalkboards and wooden signs, a candy bar and photo booth, and re-lined old suitcases.
After the ceremony, our guests enjoyed canapés and cocktails on the lawn as a string quartet played. They could also explore the barn, which was decorated with photo bunting of us from our favourite moments travelling the world. The candy bar, photo booth and typewriter station were a hit.
We chose soft tones for our colour palette – pastel shades including dusty pink, creams, ivory and sage green. Each table was named after a city we had visited, with a framed picture of us there, and the centrepieces were made up of scented candles, mason jars and vintage bottles dressed in lace, twine and ribbon.
We finished the night partying on the dance floor in the barn. Paper lanterns hung from the rafters and blanket-covered hay bales were scattered on the concrete floors. We wanted to include our Polynesian heritage into our wedding, so I performed a traditional siva (dance), and our families joined in.
Our wedding was filled with love and laughter, and was the perfect beginning to our happily ever after!
