Kasteel & Nic
To accommodate 140 guests, Kasteel and Nic planned a fun and laid-back picnic wedding celebration – so their ‘Love Festival’ was born. Kasteel fills us in…
Our venue was a complete blank canvas, so we had to decorate it ourselves. I designed everything including the cakes, bunting, signs, flowers and programmes, and all the materials I used were recycled or re-used. Friends and family chipped in and even the local school took a turn at making some of the 400 metres of bunting! The ceremony was held in a clearing in the bush where we had our first official date three years earlier – it was such a romantic and intimate setting surrounded by lush New Zealand trees. Nic and I shared a picnic after the ceremony, which was a nice way to have a moment to ourselves and think about all that had happened that year. We had collected the wedding dresses of our mothers, aunties and friends, and put them on display at the reception venue, together with photos from family weddings dating right back to our great, great, great grandparents. We also had a photo booth and sent gorgeous fire lanterns into the night sky to join the stars. It was an amazing night.
