Eva & Cameron

Cameron & Eva Large

With a love of all things vintage, Eva and Cameron planned a unique wedding day that reflected their style perfectly. Eva tells us more…

Soon after our engagement, we began collecting bone china, plates, cups and saucers, vases, cut crystal, lace tablecloths, silver serving ware, Champagne saucers – anything that fit the theme of an elegant dinner party with an old world charm. I used catchups with my girlfriends as an excuse to make soy candles in old tea cups and glasses that I had collected.
My beautiful lace gown had the elegant, vintage look I was after, and was complemented by simple accessories and a vintage hair piece. The earrings were a complete surprise. My darling mother had seen my frustration in trying to find the perfect antique earrings with a pop of colour to match my eyes and took it upon herself to design the most stunning earrings as my wedding gift. They included garnets from a brooch of my godmothers, and were set with sea pearls and turquoise in rose gold.
The ceremony was to have the look of an elegant English garden party. We achieved this with pretty flower jars, a rose-petal circle, lawn games, and locally grown Mahurangi oysters! In the rustic woolshed reception venue I wanted to create an elegant Gatsby-like dinner party, so we added props such as Queen Anne couches and chesterfield chairs next to the piano, a wall of bevelled mirrors behind the dessert bar, and a dessert table that was a family antique. We rented marquee letter lights for the dance floor to add a glamorous party atmosphere.
We didn’t want a long ceremony, so after a couple of short readings and the usual proceedings, the nuptials were over and we were ready to join the party! We all had so much fun, and Cam and I made great use of the rock ‘n’ roll moves we had been learning all year. By midnight we were very sad to say goodnight, and looking back now I just want to do it all over again!
